Legal Secretariat, Ministry of Finance

Do you thrive in an advisory role where you work with skilled and engaged colleagues on interesting legal issues in a political environment? In the varied work at the Ministry of Finance's Legal Secretariat, we can offer you, as a court of appeal or administrative court assessor, a developing role where you contribute to societal development.

Your workday. Sweden's tomorrow.

The Legal Secretariat is responsible for the drafting of legislative proposals and regulations and assists the departmental leadership and the Ministry of Finance's divisions with advice on legal matters. The Legal Secretariat also conducts internal training in several areas related to the Ministry of Finance's operations. Currently, 14 people work at the Legal Secretariat, most of whom have a background as court of appeal or administrative court assessors. The Legal Secretariat has a responsibility that encompasses all of the ministry's divisions, with the exception of the tax and customs division and the financial markets division. This means that the secretariat provides legal advice on a wide range of issues, including the state budget, state-owned companies, digitalization, subsidy fraud and incorrect payments of public funds, procurement legislation, gaming regulation, consumer rights, state employer policy, agency governance, municipal law, Sweden's participation in international financial institutions, and the state's ownership of real estate.

We are looking for someone who wants to provide legal advice, ensure consistency in the ministry's products, and draft legal council memos, bills, and regulations within the Legal Secretariat's area of responsibility. You will work alongside professional and knowledgeable colleagues, both specialists and individuals with broad experience. We have a digital working method, which allows for working from home two days a week. The role involves many points of contact and collaboration with other departments in the Ministry of Finance and with other ministries within the Government Offices.
